Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/OFPosition Projection

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Nathan is a 2B who will graduate in 2022. Athletic build with some strength present and plenty of room to fill out. At 2B, he fields from the ground up, with a low funnel, as he tries to center ball. Clean transfers into a release point. Accurate/on-line throws recorded up to 86mph across the diamond. A right-handed hitter, he starts with an athletic and square stance. Quiet head/eyes enable him to track pitches well. Good bat angle at contact, with extension out front, and ability to hit line drives to all fields. Reached base once and had a bat exit velocity of 82mph in live game action. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Nathan is a 2022 2B. Medium frame with an athletic build showing room to fill out physically down the road. Primary SS, showing active feet as he worked well into and around the baseball. Gathers it out front and then shuffles into transfers. Arm strength starting to show as he threw it 82 mph with accuracy across the diamond during drills. Right-Handed hitter, starting narrow and upright in the stance. Small load as he works into square and centered stride. Flat swing path as he stays linear through the zone. Looked to drive the baseball the other way when possible. Impacts the baseball out front and will make a big jump when he fills out physically. Two years of continued growth and development will bode well for his career at the next level.

12/27/2020 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Nathan is an athletic/versatile prospect who plays the game with a ton of energy. In the outfield, he starts in a ready position with active footwork, showing off great range with a + first step. He presents his glove well fielding the ball in a low, athletic position. A clean 2-handed exchange allows him to get rid of the ball quickly from a side arm slot while recording his best arm strength to date (80 mph) with accuracy and carry. At 2B, he moves well laterally playing lightly on the balls of his feet, displaying + range at the position. At the plate, he starts in a square setup showing comfortable/relaxed hands. He keeps his weight centered using a smooth, compact swing with + barrel control. His line drive approach allows him to hit the ball back up the center of the field as he creates consistent/hard contact. From the mound, he threw from a loose arm action with a high volume of strikes. FB has run at 75 and CB has 11-5 shape while commanding it down in the zone. Nathan had a good presence on the mound with sound mechanics, repeating his delivery well. Sanchez is a very talented (2022) prospect who has the skills that will translate well into the next level.

09/13/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Nathan is a lean, athletic 2B/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and reads balls well off the bat. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increases as he improves foot quickness. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks and plays through balls with his body. Glove action soft / sure as he presents well out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Nathan has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
