07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Nathaniel is a big 1B/C who continues to better his game as he graduates in 2018. At the plate he starts from an athletic stance and is direct through the zone showing quick bat speed. The ball jumps off his bat as he shows the ability to drive the baseball to all fields. Behind the plate, he centers the ball on his blocks and receives with sure hands. He makes accurate throws down to 2nd with a clean exchange. At first base, he fielded balls out in front and took good angles to the baseball. He also showed the ability to dig balls out of the dirt. Improving footwork will help Nathaniel improve defensively. Nathaniel has good upside and intangibles to have success on the diamond.

04/30/2017 - College PREP - Charlottesville, VA Nathanial is a tall, solid 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through a tall setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball and has strength in his swing displaying gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is firm and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program and work to get rid of the baseball quicker to improve arm grade. Nathanial has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
