07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Nate continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. At the plate, hitting potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with power to all fields. At the event, he was 4 for 9 with a 2B and HR. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. With 4 years to further develop, Nate has the makings of a special type player with time and room to continue to progress his game.

07/07/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Nate continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, power has improved through an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick (77 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he continues to shine. Fastball showed a range of 66-68 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. With 4 years to further develop, Nate has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to develop, possibly as a two-way guy.

06/04/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Troy (Albany), NY Nathaniel is a tall, big 1B/RHP. Defensively at 1B, his big frame allows for an easy target. He fields GB's in a low/square position and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the mound, this righty gathers over the rubber and keeps his eyes locked in. He delivers a 3-pitch mix with quick/clean arm action and finishes strong towards home plate. With the bat, Nathaniel displays an athletic setup with fluid rhythm to load. He explodes his lower 1/2 through and consistently sprays pitches from gap to gap. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Quicker angles
3. Be on time
Pitching
1. Develop CH
2. Stronger frontside
3. Work in line
Offense
1. Loosen grip on bat
2. Stay inside the ball
3. Let the ball travel

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
