11/05/2009 - Pirate City Select Training Nathan is a young, 2013 graduate that shows as a two-way player at 1B plus on the mound with an average frame. Foot speed is well below average as he must get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get the baseball, playing through with feet / hands. He makes the routine plays and is still developing physically. Defensive abilities and arm strength are average as he must get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. He shows accuracy on his throws. At the plate, Hatmaker has well below average abilities and power through a balanced approach. He makes contact but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. Power numbers will improve as more overall body strength is gained. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 66-69 mph on a flat plane. Off speed pitches need further development to be quality pitches at the next level. Stock on the mound will rise quickly as more arm strength is gained. With 3 years to further develop, Nathan has abilities with time and room to improve.
