06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Nathaniel continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick (as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. Defensively, feet are active but needs to attack balls and play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-72 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Nathaniel improved his hitting abilities and power potential at the event. He shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is firm but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Nathaniel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases his foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. FB ranges from 70-72 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Nathaniel continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City Nathaniel continues to shine on the diamond. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 63-67 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and late break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

04/28/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Charlottesville, VA Nathaniel showed nice overall improvements in his game during his last workout with The Factory. He is a tall/thin, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Nathaniel has quick/fluid feet, agile movements, and he fields in a low/square position. He fields aggressively, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and accuracy from a short arm action. On the mound, Nathaniel has good balance, solid arm strength, and he works in good tempo. He has a controlled landing toward home and is around the zone with his pitches. At the plate, Nathaniel has a square set-up, a short/square stride, and good balance. He stands in the box athletically, swings on plane, and he uses his lower body. Nathaniel raised radar velocity to 69 MPH and lowered 60 time to 7.56 during the workout. Overall skills can continue to improve with work on the following.

10/21/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Potomac, MD Nathaniel worked out both in the INF and on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. Hitting and power grades from the right side spiked to 38 and 35. At the plate, Nathaniel showed an aggressive/balanced approach, a rhythmic swing, and fast bat speed. He makes square contact, hits hard to the pull side, and he gets his lower body through. At 3B, Nathaniel has quick/active feet, presentable hands, and he fields in an athletic position. He makes plays consistently, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target. On the mound, Nathaniel has a clean arm circle, he throws strikes, and has good direction toward home plate. With work on the following, Nathaniel can continue to improve.

06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Nathaniel is a 3B/RHP that shows improvement in his game. His 60-time has improved from past events decreasing from an 8.82 to an 8.5 as well as his home-to-first time decreasing from a 5.36 to a 5.20. In the field, Nathaniel tries to create angles to the ball and keeps his body in front. He can improve in the field by doing cone and ladder drills to improve athleticism and lateral movement along with experiencing different ground balls to become comfortable with different angles. At the plate, Nathaniel shows a spray approach with a square set up, a short stride and a good center balance. His lower half leads as he displays a direct bat path to the ball. Nathaniel can improve offensively by developing rhythm and a separation between his stride and hand load. On the mound, he displays a FB and CH from a low, loose 3/4 arm slot. Nathaniel does a good job of keeping his eyes on his target while staying in line. He can improve on the mound by implementing more of his lower half and extending through the zone upon release. Overall, he shows good poise and composed emotions on the mound. He does a decent job holding runners and is projected to be a finesse type pitcher.

03/18/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Ashburn (DC), VA Nathaniel worked out at both 3B and RHP during his last workout in Ashburn. Defensively, Nathaniel presents his glove well, he gains ground, and keeps the ball in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and some accuracy to his target. On the mound, Nathaniel has a repeatable delivery, he keeps his eyes on target, and works in good tempo. He separates on time, lands in a square position, and keeps his eyes on target. At the plate, Nathaniel swings in good rhythm, he stands in athletically, and gets his hands in a good hitting position.

10/07/2017 - FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Nathaniel is a RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the FDI Pitching and Catching Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, this righty works to control his pitches in the zone and competes. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 58mph with good cutting movement. Breaking ball sits at 54mph. Changeup sits from 51-55mph. Nathaniel can improve as a pitcher by working directly in line to the plate and by separating his hands later in his motion. With six more years to develop, Nathaniel has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the mound.

09/23/2017 - FDI Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (12-14) Nathaniel is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a crouched stance and works to barrel up the baseball. Nathaniel can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride to the pitcher and by working a smoother load into his swing. With six more years to develop, Nathaniel has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

07/16/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Washington, DC Nathaniel is a 2-way player at 3B/RHP. Defensively at 3B, he hustles from right to left as he gets into a square fielding position. He comes up with a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to his target. On the mound, this righty keeps his eyes on target and delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot. He separates on time and works in line towards home plate. With the bat, Nathaniel hits from both sides of the plate. He swings on a direct bat path through the zone and creates consistent contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
