Official Scouting Report

  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Nathaniel is an OF/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame lean build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. In the OF works to keep ball in front with ability to make routine plays. He fields ball out front with a good glove angle. Made accurate throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, with a long arm stroke, and an arm velocity up to 67mph into infield. Quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. Hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 75mph during BP. On the mound he picks up target early and shows a loose arm. He a controlled landing and is square to his target. He throws a FB that sits 59-61mph, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, and a slider from the same window as his curve ball. As he continues to develop, we see Nathaniel having a bright future on the baseball field.

08/03/2023 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament (HS) Nathaniel continues to shine with his baseball abilities at the Pro Select Training. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls more and play through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 60-64 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard on the field.

06/04/2023 - National Showcase - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Nathaniel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he utilizes his aggressive feet as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 64-67 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

04/16/2023 - All-In Membership - Charlottesville, VA Nathaniel is a lean OF who will graduate in 2024. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
