09/30/2020 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Nic continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. Behind the plate, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest and is a wall. Receiving / blocking skills are outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Arm strength is at a pro level (93 mph velocity) and he does throw very well from his knees with pop times in the 2.00 range. Offensively, he continues to shine with tremendous power potential. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (97 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. At the event, he was 2 for 7 with a HR.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Nic is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (89 mph velocity) with impressive pop times of 2.02. Offensively, he continues to shine through a tall, open setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (94 mph exit velocity) with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 81-84 mph with sink. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

09/25/2019 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Nic is a pure catch and throw backstop who also will make an impact with the bat. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon for an arm (88 mph) with impressive pop times of 1.98. Offensively, he continues to shine with tremendous hitting abilities with pro level power potential. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (98 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel. He did show on the mound for 1 inning with fastball topping out at 82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. With 3 years to further develop, Nic has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

09/01/2019 - College PREP - Hooksett, NH Nic continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has the makings of a special type player at the next level. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Offensively, power potential is now at pro level. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (99 mph exit velocity) with the ball coming off well of his barrel, driving ball to deepest part of the park. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the plate. Pop times showed in the 2.00 range with accuracy / on line carry (85 mph velocity) on his throws. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 82-83 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late/sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Nic is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect. Behind the dish, Nic starts in a balanced primary and athletic secondary stance. When receiving, he presents a low target, works behind the ball, and works the ball back to the zone. When blocking, anticipates the ball in the dirt, he leads with his glove, and creates good angles over the ball. When throwing, Nic has a clean exchange, he keeps a strong front side, and has a quick release. At the plate, Nic starts in an open stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. In game he has a gap to gap approach and makes consistent hard contact. He creates backside drive with his lower half, attacks the inside part of the ball, and creates whip in the barrel. On the bump, Nic shows confidence in his pitches and challenges hitters down in the zone. He finds a balance point over the back leg, separates on time, and works north to south in his delivery. Nic has a high ceiling and we hope to see him continue his progress into the future.

12/02/2018 - College PREP - Lewiston, ME Nic is an athletic C/3B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Nic shows active footwork and takes good angles when blocking. He sits in a low stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws to 2B, keeping them accurate with carry through the bag. At 3B, Nic shows active footwork and covers ground well. He fields with soft hands, and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them accurate with good carry through his target. At the plate, Nic sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid contact and gap to gap pop. Overall, Nic is a talented prospect who will be one to follow going into his freshman season.

09/26/2018 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Nic continues to show the makings of a special type player. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power is best shown to the pull side. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Throws are accurate with pop times improving as he continues to build more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup behind the dish with a soft glove action that sticks balls in the zone. Blocking skills are solid as he utilizes his body well and keeps all balls in front.

07/09/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Portland, ME Nic showed well at both positions and at the plate during his workout in Portland. Behind the plate, Nic has soft/presentable hands, active feet, and he fields in a square position. He works around the ball well, keeps it in front when blocking, and has a clean release with a strong arm to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 1.98 seconds. At 3B, Nic has good pre-pitch actions, soft hands, and active feet. He fields athletically, gathers himself well, and he throws with a quick release to his target. Offensively, Nic has an aggressive swing, good balance, and he loads well. He has explosive bat speed, makes hard contact, and has power in his bat. Nic can further improve skills with work on the following.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Nic is an athletic 3B prospect who showed well at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Nic works to get into a good position and fields with soft hands. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to be accurate and carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone which leads to hard contact and good power to his pull side. Nic is a talented prospect who will be one to follow over the next few years.

12/03/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Lewiston, ME Nic is a talented 3B who can swing the bat with power. Defensively at 3B, he hustles laterally with fluid footwork and gets into an athletic fielding position on GB's. He funnels the GB with soft/smooth hands and has a cannon for an arm. With the stick, this righty is a power hitter with smooth rhythm. He explodes his lower 1/2, whips his barrel fast through the zone and drives pitches with hard/solid contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
