Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

10/06/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Columbia, MD Nicholas is an athletic RHP who graduate in 2022. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 71-72 mph. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his knuckleball with slight sink. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Nicholas has potential with time and room to progress his game.

11/01/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Nick is a 3B prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Nick shows active footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He fields in a square position and makes a clean exchange, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Fielding the ball out in front of his body can help Nick improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and works to barrel up the baseball, making solid contact. Nick can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Nick is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/28/2017 - Holiday Hitting Camp Strengths: - Athletic Setup - Agressive/attacks the baseball - Gets into a good loaded (launch) position Areas to improve: - Finish Lower 1/2 through the ball - Shortening Bat Path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
