Official Scouting Report

  • 2BPosition Projection

07/20/2015 - College PREP - Bridgeport, CT Nicholas continues to work hard on his game. At the plate, this LHH has a balanced setup with rhythm in his hands. He works back into a loaded position, swings on a level path and drives the ball back up the middle of the field. Increased power will come with more extension through contact. In the MIF, he shows active footwork and moves well around the GB from right to left. He has clean/athletic actions and makes accurate throws to 1B. Dorazio is a hard worker who still has time to develop as he enters his senior year.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Nicholas is fiery spark plug of an infielder that just flat out makes plays with good baseball awareness. He gets his body to a good pre-pitch/ready position and fields the ball out in front. He does a nice job of replacing his feet in line to his targets to throw accurately. At the plate, he has an open stance with activated hands that give him a direct-to-contact bat path. Moving forward, Nicholas should incorporate pitch recognition drills to offer at more strikes. Overall - Nicholas has a good attitude and understanding for the process that allows him to improve daily.

08/14/2014 - National Tryout - Bridgeport, CT Nicholas had his best outing with Baseball Factory last month at the Bridgeport, CT tryout. Defensively, he worked his feet pre-pitch and got to a good fielding position with his hands in front. He was soft with the glove and used his feet to throw with a clean arm stroke. Being more aggressive to come get and improving arm strength through a throwing program will increase fielding percentage. With the bat, he had good balance in his setup and stayed inside the ball at contact. He was direct with his path, but needs to use more lower half to generate more bat speed. Overall - Dorazio has another two years to add strength for next level play.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Nicholas is a sophomore 2B that hits from an athletic setup and showed consistent contact. Offensively, he sprayed the ball over the field with good zone recognition. With more lower half and rhythm, his swing with show increases in power. Defensively, he projects well as a 2B with an athletic fielding position and clean exchange. He makes the routine plays and throws from multiple arm slots. In all - Dorazio is a very coachable player that was able to make plays and make adjustments to better his game.

11/17/2013 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Nick is a left-handed swinging 2B who has a middle infield type build. Defensively, he shows active footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. He shows good lateral movements and can make the play to his right and left. He has a clean exchange and turns the DP quickly. Increased arm-strength will only benefit his play in the INF. Offensively, this lefty shows a tall stance with good balance. He delivers the barrel on a level path and makes consistent contact. Better rhythm will help to get back into a strong loaded position and will improve contact consistency. Nick is only a sophomore and still has time to develop his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
