05/19/2024 - National Showcase - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Nicholas is a 2026 middle infielder out of Mira Costa High School. Athleticism is well above average as he ran the 60 yard dash in 6.94 seconds and jumped 8'8" in the standing broad jump. His defensive acumen is above average as he has a quick first step, moves effortlessly from side-to-side and is easy with his glove to hand transfer. Arm strength came in at 81mph but the arm plays even better than that velocity due to the carry he produces on his throws. He went 81mph off the tee. During batting practice, he hit the ball hard to the middle of the field consistently and creates backspin that causes the ball to carry a bit. Showed gap to gap power. With two more years of high school in front of him, we expect Nicholas to flourish on the diamond.

10/12/2022 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic (2026) Nicholas is a coachable SS prospect who showcased his skills during the Fall Classic. In the field, Nicholas shows smooth footwork with a quick first step. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a soft stride. He gets into a small load and hits against a strong front side. He works through a level swing and produces strong line drives. Overall, Nicholas is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/02/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Irvine (Los Angeles), CA Nicholas is an excellent SS in the 2026 class. In the field, he has fluid and quick feet. Takes solid angles to the baseball and gains an athletic fielding position. His hands are quick and under control for clean exchanges. Has short arm action from a slot and feeds are quick and accurate. He can work to sink his hips more on his backhands and keep his eyes behind the baseball. At the plate, he begins with an open and athletic set-up. His short stride allows his body to load and uses his lower half well. Demonstrates a direct barrel path for pull side production. Overall, Nicholas is a talented prospect with a bright future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
