05/27/2013 - College PREP - Jupiter, FL Nicholas is a tall, solid, 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the INF, Nicholas presents his glove well, he has good lateral movements, and he fields out front. He has a clean exchange, and he throws with accuracy across the diamond. Fielding lower and more out front can help INF skills improve. In the OF, Nicholas has active feet, an aggressive approach, and he catches the ball at its highest point. He has accuracy to his target, and can improve with a quicker 1st step and a lower approach. Offensively, Nicholas has good balance, average bat speed, and he makes square contact. He is a contact hitter with a short swing. Less noisy action, a wider base, and more lower 1/2 can spike hitting.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
