11/03/2024 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Nicholas is a freshman outfielder and second baseman from Frederick, MD who brings a well-rounded skill set and impressive athleticism to the field. With a 60-yard dash time of 6.93 seconds, he already shows excellent speed and agility, which translates well to both positions. In the outfield, he reads the ball off the bat well, taking an aggressive first step back and working behind and through ground balls with solid technique. His clean transfer, starting off his left foot, and loose arm action from a high 3/4 arm slot allow him to make accurate throws with good carry, reaching up to 76 mph. At second base, he closes distance quickly on batted balls, fielding from a square position with a good glove angle and making consistent, accurate throws to first base. He also displays strong ability to throw on the run, showcasing versatility and quick decision-making. At the plate, as a right-handed hitter, Nicholas starts with an even stance and on-time stride, hitting into a firm front side. His barrel stays in the hitting zone for a long time, consistently driving hard line drives during batting practice. With four more years of continued growth and development, this prospect has the potential to refine his skills even further, becoming a dynamic player at both the plate and in the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.
