He demonstrates an easy sit with flexible hips, showcasing quiet actions as he tracks the ball to his mitt. His throws to second base are aggressive with a strong arm and quick release. He maintains a good spine angle while blocking, keeping his chin tucked effectively. At the plate, he hits right-handed from an even stance, displaying smooth rhythm and driving into a firm front side. His fast barrel and direct hand path allow him to square up balls consistently, achieving a bat exit velocity of up to 81 mph. With continued development, he possesses huge upside and the potential to excel at the next level.

12/20/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Nick is a 2026 catcher out of North Tonawanda, NY who continues to impress with improvements in his baseball abilities and did so at the Pirate City Christmas Camp & Tournament. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.39. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
