08/08/2021 - All-In Membership - Bowie, MD Nicholas is an athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is impressive as indicated by his 6.85 60 time. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally and covers ground in the OF. Throws are accurate but well benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he displays well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Nicholas has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

08/01/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (HS) Nicholas is a 2022 OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, he starts in an athletic position and shows active footwork as he works through the baseball. Showed good body control at ball, with good routes to baseball, and plays the game fast. He fields from an athletic/low position and fields the ball out with a clean exchange. He creates momentum on his throws into infield as he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and arm velocity up to 76mph. A long toss and J-band program will help Nicholas build up his arm strength. At the plate, he sets up in an open and athletic stance with loose hands. Simple load with good rhythm and showed a fast bat through the hitting zone. Hit line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph during his round of BP. At the event, Nicholas reached base 6 times with 2 singles, a base on balls, 2 hit by pitches, and a reached on error. Overall, Nicholas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field with continued development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
