10/06/2024 - National Showcase - Chicago, IL Nicholas is a third baseman and right-handed pitcher in the high school class of 2027 who showcases impressive skills on the field. He works from the ground up with fluid footwork, maintaining a good glove angle and exhibiting strong lateral range. His follow-through on throws creates momentum, achieving velocities of up to 80 miles per hour. As a right-handed hitter, he utilizes a square glide step, transitioning smoothly from knob to catcher and keeping his swing on plane to hit balls effectively to all fields. On the mound, he demonstrates a strong rear hip coil, staying tall on his backside as he works down the slope, delivering a fastball, a curveball with tight spin, and a changeup with good movement. With three years of continued development ahead, he is well-positioned to advance his baseball career.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
