07/20/2010 - Cape Cod Training 2010 - Session 3 Nicholas is young (2013) OF with a small frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is average as indicated by his 7.58 60 time. Feet are active as he moves well laterally and displays proper footwork through the fielding process. Hands are clean and sure displaying solid glove action. Arm slot is over the top displaying some carry as he will benefit from a long toss program. Offensively is where Salas shows best as he shows a solid setup as he works to get into a strong launch position. Hands work direct to the baseball as he shows a solid feel for the barrel with ball jumping off his bat when centered through a balanced approach. With 4 years to further develop, Nicholas has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
