12/07/2014 - College PREP - Nyack (NYC), NY Nicholas is a solid, athletic OF that will graduate in 2016. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.23 60 time. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic / squared setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a compact swing and works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. He shows good barrel accuracy and has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Defensive abilities in the OF are solid as he displays clean / smooth actions. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through well, and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Throws are accurate, flashing carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. With 2 years to further develop, Nicholas has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
