12/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Manalapan, NJ Nicolas is a young, thin, two-way player, who plays outfield in left-handed pitcher. In the OF, Nicholas has active feet, a presentable glove, and he attacks the ball aggressively. He works behind fly balls well, makes plays consistently, and has a clean exchange with an accurate arm with momentum throwing to his target. Following his throws and playing more through the ball will only help abilities in the Of get better. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher stands over the rubber balance well balanced, he separate his hands on time, and his arm action is loose and clean. He has a repeatable delivery, lands with a proper length stride towards home plate, and he throw strikes. More glove side lead, and use of lower body will only help mound effectiveness get even better. Offensively, Nicolas shows the ability to switch it and is currently better from the right side. From the right he hits from a solid base, he works the middle of a field, and shows some hand load; all through a loose grip. From the left, Nicolas is able to use the whole field through a balanced approach. He makes contact and uses some of his lower body. Offensive numbers will improve with work on load/stride, more use of his lower body, and with added bat speed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
