03/25/2018 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Nick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but he needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

03/12/2017 - College PREP - Voorhees (Philadelphia), NJ Nick continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He will benefit by working to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He utilizes his lower half well and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Working to get stride foot down sooner to work on time will aid in improving hitting abilities.

07/11/2016 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Nick is a very physically gifted player, that shows great potential in the outfield already. Using his good speed, Nick has very good range in the outfield, tracking the ball well and using efficient angles to cover a lot of ground. Consistent long tossing and utilizing his whole body on throws will strengthen his throws in. At the plate, Nick's short/compact swing, still head and good use of his lower half, make for consistent contact. Getting to a good load position with his hands will make Nick a power/speed threat at the plate. With some small refinement, Nick could turn himself into a 5 tool player down the road.

03/06/2016 - College PREP - Hightstown, NJ Nick is a lean, athletic OF who will graduate in 2019 with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach, creating extension. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he adds overall body strength. In the OF, feet are quick aggressive as he takes proper first steps in getting on proper routes to track down balls as he works to get behind the ball. He plays through balls well with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with throws displaying accuracy. With 3 years to further develop, Nick has abilities with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
