07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Nick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.09. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the dish.

12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 Nick continues to improve with experience and displays a high baseball IQ on the field. As a catcher Nick consistently presents the pitcher with a big target, works around the ball when receiving, and controls balls with his chest preventing runners from advancing bases on dirt balls. If Nick works on getting into a balanced secondary with runners on base and continues to transfer the ball in front of his body, he will be more efficient throwing out runners. As a hitter, Nick stays inside the ball, makes consistent contact, and adjusts to the breaking ball. If Nick continues to practice staying back on the ball, and using the opposite side of the field, he will continue to become a more complete hitter. Nick is a young 2021 prospect with a lot of potential. We look forward to seeing him continue his progress.

11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Nick is a lean built, athletic C/SS prospect who plays the game hard and has potential. Behind the plate, Nick is smooth in his movements and moves with quick feet giving him agile range laterally. He presents a good low target and receives the ball with soft hands. Nick has a quick exchange leading into a short, loose arm action from a high 3/4 slot. He plays with momentum in his throws down to 2B and they are consistently online. Offensively, Nick has an athletic setup with a short, square stride and lower half that leads his swing. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and centered balance. Nick has a line drive approach with above average bat speed consistently landing the barrel to the baseball. Nick is a hard worker who has advanced fundamentals and is certainly a prospect to follow.

10/02/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Parker (Denver), CO Nick is a talented SS/C catching with good upside. In the field, Nick takes effective angles with a good approach to field the ball athletically. He is especially strong to his glove side and has a quick, clean exchange. Nick's arm action is short and loose, throwing from a 3/4 slot. He works through the baseball with momentum towards his target producing consistent accurate throws. As a catcher, Nick plays with quick footwork and receives the baseball with a soft, quiet glove. He has a clean exchange with a short arm action and his POP times ranging from 2.34-2.39 seconds. Offensively, Nick has a square stance and maintains direction with his stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. He takes a good load with smooth rhythm stays balanced. Nick's bat path is on plane producing hard contact to the middle of the field. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Stay low to throw
2. Long toss
Catching
1. Stay down when blocking
2. Move to spot of the ball to receive
Hitting
1. Losen grip
2. Shorten up stance

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
