01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Nick is a speedy, 2010 OF, with good athleticism. His hands and feet play well in the OF, and he was timed at 6.91 in the 60. Nick gets a good 1st step to the ball and makes plays. His arm is strong and loose and his glove is in the right spot. If Nick can work to throw down hill, release the ball quicker and more accurate, solid numbers should get even better. At the plate, Nick has good balance and bat speed. He has a good base, level bat path, and good barrel accuracy. Offensive grades can improve if Nick can work the ball to all fields, drive the pitch away, and get more lower 1/2 rotation. Overall, Nick is an athletic player with good instincts and play skills. A little work in certain areas should really pay dividends down the road.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
