02/26/2023 - National Showcase - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Nick is a talented switch hitting 3B/RHP 2027 grad who plays above grade level. In the field, he has excellent prep steps and gives solid effort in the field. He shows the trust factor where he makes the routine plays look routine. He has solid exchanges and gains a short high ¾ release point. Arm has life at 71 velo and his feeds are accurate. Working to play lower to the ground and sink his hips will assist with picking out his hops. On the mound, he stays directional and keeps his eyes to the target. His FB touched 70 and shows tailing actions. His CB say 47-50 with loose spin and 11-5 shape. His CH sat 62-3 with good feel down in the zone. At the plate, he can generate power from both sides. He has a middle approach and can go backside based upon the pitch. He stays within and his rhythm is smooth. Bat speed plays at 74-5 and with relaxed shoulders will help prevent arm bar and enable him to attack the inside pitch. Overall, scouts came away impressed with his actions and look forward to seeing his development at future BF events.

02/21/2022 - All-In Membership - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Nick is an athletic 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he creates good angles and works to square balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 58-62 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup sink but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 5 years to further develop, Nick has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
