08/18/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Dickinson, ND Nicklaus is a tall, lean, 2-way player who plays 3rd base and RHP. Defensively, Nicklaus has good pre-pitch actions, active feet, and he fields in an athletic position. He has firm hands, a quick exchange, and he throws with accuracy and direction across the diamond. On the mound, Nicklaus has good balance and a compact delivery. He keeps his eyes on target, his arm action is clean, and he lands controlled toward home plate. Offensively, Nicklaus can switch hit and is currently better from the left side. He has good balance, makes square/solid contact, and he works the ball well the opposite way. From the right side, Nicklaus has some bat speed, he gets good extension, and he uses some lower body. Abilities can continue to improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.
