12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 Nicholas is a hard worker who shows quiet confidence. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with good balance. Swing path is direct to and through the zone as he barrels the ball up consistently. Working back into a loaded position sooner will help to improve pop off of his barrel. At SS, Shroyer hustles into position behind the ground ball. Exchange is clean as he works in-line toward his target at 1B. Playing through and gaining ground toward his target will help to improve his defensive skill set. On the mound, Nicholas works to a controlled balance point and maintains level shoulders. He works in-line toward the dish and finishes well. Nicholas is a good teammate who brings his all to the field.

08/03/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Dublin (Columbus), OH Nickolas is a talented 2-way player as a RHP/SS. On the bump, this RHP throws a FB & CB from a high 3/4 arm slot. He hides the ball and is a little deceptive in his delivery. FB has late life as it gets on hitters quickly. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape as he can spot up and throw it for strikes. At SS, Nickolas is aggressive to come and get the ground ball. He fields the ball smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this RHH shows a well balanced approach with patience. Barrel delivery is quick/direct as he connects and drives it. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
