05/19/2024 - National Showcase - York, PA Nicolas is a 3B in the class of 2025. His tools in the field are the strongest part of his game. He flashes good footwork and the ability to cover ground to both sides of his body. Fields from a low position with his hands presented out front. Clean exchanges and a loose arm action lead to good throws across the diamond. At the plate, he starts in an open stance. Shows a good approach. Flashes late bat whip with good hand to hip separation. Exit velo worked up to 81 MPH. Was able to work gap to gap. Nicolas is a good player with 1 year of high school left to continue to develop.

05/14/2023 - National Showcase - Bowie, MD Nicolas is a lean 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2025. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 61-63 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Nicolas has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
