09/19/2024 - BF Teams - Fall Super 17 Invitational Nicolas is a 2027 catcher from Gilbertsville, PA, who showcased his impressive abilities at the Baseball Factory Super 17 Invitational. Behind the dish, he demonstrated fluid footwork, working to center the ball and presenting a low target. His tracking skills were sharp, allowing him to replace his feet effectively, and he recorded a best pop time of 2.01 seconds with an arm velocity of up to 77 mph. He displayed good lateral range on his blocks, effectively deadening balls and keeping them in front of him. At the plate, he utilized an open stance with a short glide step, hitting into a firm front side and making consistent contact where the pitch was located. In live game action, he recorded two RBI single and showed impressive speed getting down the line to first base. With his strong foundation, there’s significant potential for growth and development in his future.

08/10/2024 - Baseball Factory Prospect Combine Nicolas is a sophomore C prospect from Gilbertsville, PA who displayed his skills at the BF prospect camp. Starts in an athletic primary stance with an easy sit and has twitchy actions. He gains ground to second base and throws from a 3/4 arm slot. Throws were on the first base side with an arm velocity up to 82mph and a best pop time of 2.26 seconds. Showed efficient footwork on his blocks with a good spine angle and tucks his chin. He needs to shorten his transfer and his accuracy on his throws. He hits from an athletic stance with comfortable hands. Separates his hands and takes a square glide step. Drives the back hip through the zone and makes hard contact to all fields. During the games he reached base multiple times including a single and a walk. He also added an RBI. Nicolas continues to show improvement in all phases of his game and should have opportunities to play at the next level.

11/11/2023 - National Showcase - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Nic is a 2027 C/SS prospect that continues to show growth in his baseball abilities. At short, he shows off efficient footwork and agile range to all angles. He centers the baseball when fielding and does a great job of funneling the ball with a squared fielding position and hands out in front. He has a clean exchange and works hard to make accurate throws from a 3/4 slot. Behind the plate, he has active movements and is very flexible. He tracks the ball well when receiving and does a great job of giving his pitcher a good target. He has a quick exchange and a quick release. He does a nice job of covering his 5-hole on balls in the dirt and keeping the ball in front of him. At the plate, he starts in an open stance and has an on-time stride. He works in rhythm in the box and sees the ball get deep. He keeps his balance centered and has a firm frontside with his lower half. He has an on-plane swing path and gets good extension on the backside when finishing. He makes consistent contact and projects as a line drive hitter. With a lot of baseball still out in front of Nic, we are excited to see more of his growth and development!

04/16/2023 - National Showcase - York, PA Nicolas continues to show improvements his baseball abilities. He showed at SS for the first time at the event. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.40 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At SS, he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Nicolas is a class of 2027 catching prospect. Behind the plate, he showed a high transfer and clean exchanges. Did a good job using his chest when blocking and centered the baseball. Had a short arm action with a quick release and had pop times as low as 2.60. At the plate, he hits from a tall stance. Did a good job getting his barrel on plane early. Showed consistent contact and the ability to hit from gap-to-gap. Nicolas is a good player with another 4.5 years to develop before graduating.

09/25/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - York, PA Nicolas is a C prospect who will graduate in 2027. Behind the dish, Nicolas is efficient moving to block and covers up well. He presents a good target to the pitcher and sticks the ball well. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws on-line to the 2B bag. Sitting in a more square stance can help Nicolas improve his overall catching ability. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance with center balance. He is smooth to load and works through a level swing, spraying the ball to all fields. Nicolas can barrel up more baseballs by taking a square stride toward the pitcher. With five more years to develop, Nicolas has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
