08/01/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (HS) Nicolas is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Nicolas shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws to his target. Long tossing can help Nicolas build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a centered stride. He is controlled getting into his load and works through a short/compact swing, producing solid line drives. Nicolas can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Nicolas gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes with his chest square to the plate. Nicolas operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph. Breaking ball sits from 57-58mph with 11-5 break. Striding inline toward the plate can help Nicolas improve his pitch command. Overall, Nicolas is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

02/14/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Nicolas is a lean, athletic SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range increasing as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. With 3 years to further develop, Nicolas has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
