02/19/2024 - National Showcase - Parker , CO Nolan is a 2028 C/2B prospect that showed impressive skills at the National Showcase in Parker. Behind the dish, he gets in a good setup and shows off quick movements with his feet. He does a nice job of giving his pitchers a good target and shows good pocket awareness. He does a nice job of sticking and extending when receiving. He has a quick exchange and a short arm action and makes accurate throws to his targets. He does a great job of getting a good down angle with his chest on balls in the dirt. At second, he does a great job of gaining ground with his angles and reading hops on ground balls. He gets in a squared fielding position when he can and plays through the baseball. He does well to field the ball out in front. He has a clean exchange and and a loose arm action and he is able to stay consistent with his throws from multiple arm slots. He shows off quick feet on double play balls and around the bag. At the plate, he starts in a squared stance and has a short stride with a good load. He has good rhythm and timing to the baseball and he does a great job of keeping his balance centered. He makes loud contact and the ball really jumps off his bat. He gets good hip rotation through his finish and he is able to spray the ball to the opposite field. Nolan is an exciting prospect that should continue to develop nicely!

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
