12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Oliver continues to shine with his baseball abilities at the Pirate City Christmas tournament. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Glove action is firm but needs to present more out front. He communicates well and has a high baseball IQ. At the plate, he shows an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and work on plane to the ball. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he works out of the stretch only. Fastball shows a range of 67-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break and good depth. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and pitches to contact. He is a team player and works on the diamond.

11/12/2023 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Oliver is an up and coming OF/RHP in the 2027 class. In the field, He shows excellent starting points to becoming a solid player. Displays an understanding of how to play the position and proves to have the trust factor of making the routine play look routine. The ball sticks to his glove and can redirect the baseball well to obtain a clean high 3 qtr. arm slot. On the mound, he operates with a 4 pitch while working with a quick tempo. He maintains his eyes to the target and gains solid extension to his target. His FB sat 71-2 and showed running actions. His cut FB ranged 65-6 and his CB showed 10-4 shape at 63-4. His CH was down in the zone ay 61-2. At the plate, he begins in a squared stance and gains a positive stride with a proper hand load. Timing looks comfortable and he stays inside his feet well. Looks to use the whole field in his approach and working to stay in his legs more will create additional power. Overall, scouts like his abilities and he has a bright future ahead of him.

05/21/2023 - National Showcase - Fryeburg, ME Oliver is an athletic, lean OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball shows range of 66-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 6 years to further develop, Oliver has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
