03/20/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Oliver is a 2023 SS out of Potomac, MD. Defensively, he continued to impress with good fielding mechanics. He has quick feet with the ability to react on the fly. He staying athletic when fielding and works through the ball well to set up his arm for quick exchanges and accurate throws from multiple arm slots across the diamond. At the plate, he uses a slightly closed stance with a short stride to land in a balanced launch position. From there, he gets the bat on plane with explosive bat speed. He works the middle of the field in his approach and backspin balls in the gaps. Oliver is a projectable player we believe has the skills to get to the next level.

12/20/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Oliver is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Oliver shows active footwork with a quick first step. He fields in a square position and has a quick exchange. He gains ground well on his throws and keeps them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and engages his lower half well. He works through a compact swing with explosive bat speed, driving the ball from gap to gap with authority. On the mound, Oliver gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Oliver operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 67-69mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Oliver is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

11/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Gambrills, MD Oliver is an athletic 2 way player out of Maryland. At SS, he moves well and covers ground and could make the routine play and flashed some skills on the backhand play. At the plate, he uses a simple set up with great rhythm and a short compact swing to hit line drives. On the mound, his fastball topped at 79 mph with slight run, his bb had good spin with a 10-4 action and his changeup seemed to be his best pitch with good deception and swing and miss ability. Oliver performed very well and we look forward to see his development when he continues to fine tune his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
