11/07/2008 - Dodgertown Select Training - 2008 Oscar improved his 60-yard dash by nearly a half second, down from 8.09 to 7.64. Defensively, he reached a good fielding position and showed solid actions. He stayed down with the ball fairly well, but can work to improve his footwork and approach along with his first step quickness. At the plate, he hit from a good base and got his hands into good position. Can work to keep the plane of his swing more down to contact. Overall, a player with a tremendous passion for the game of baseball - he worked very hard and was very coachable, giving him a chance to continue to develop his skills.

08/09/2008 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Oscar is a 2B with average ability at the plate. He loads his hands well and does a nice job of staying on top of the baseball. He shows good balance and works to keep his hands inside the baseball, spraying the ball to all fields. Power numbers are limited to the pull side at present time. In the infield, Rodriquez shows a good glove presentation. He does need to increase his foot speed to play in the middle at the next level. Arm strength is well below average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to build more arm strength. He does need instruction and work to improve his abilities for the next level. Oscar has a lot of room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
