07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Owen is a 2022 OF/SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Owen starts in an athletic position and shows active footwork as he works through the baseball. He fields from an athletic position and fields the ball out with a clean exchange. Made accurate throws from a low 3/4 arm slot and arm velocity up to 76mph. A long toss and J-band program will help Owen build up his arm strength. At the plate, he sets up in an open and athletic stance. He rotates his lower half to contact point, with a flat barrel path, and a smooth swing. Hit line drives to all fields during his round of BP. At the event, Owen had a double, a single, and a base on balls. Overall, Owen is a solid 2-way prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

05/23/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Owen is an athletic OF/SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the field, Owen shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth to load and engages his lower half well. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and gap to gap power. Overall, Owen is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Owen improved his hitting abilities and power potential at the event. He shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he works behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

03/07/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Owen is a 2022 OF/SS. Medium frame athletic build with plenty of physical projection remaining. Primary OF showed solid footwork in the outfield coming through the ball. Ability to get on top of his throws with present arm strength and plenty of online carry. Arm stroke is clean and projectable. Secondary SS good athlete and arm strength there as well. Gets in an athletic fielding position who fields ball out front. Flashes ability to move laterally with improving foot speed/quickness. Right-handed hitter hits from an upright and square stance. Does a good job of getting his lower half activated in swing. Has strength in his swing but will need to make adjustments for more consistent contact. Good overall athlete, with some strength present, whose ability to play at the next level will be determined by how much he can improve.

02/20/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Offensive Skills Weekend - Columbia, MD Owen is an OF/SS prospect who worked hard during the Mid-Atlantic Skills Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and leads well with his lower half, spraying the ball to all fields. Working through a more level swing path can help Owen create more consistent contact. Overall, Owen is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/22/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Owen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an uphill swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Owen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork and he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Owen is a lean 2B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls. Glove action is soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing the whole field through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 5 years to further develop, Owen has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
