01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Owen is a tall, lean, and athletic catcher that will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 1.95-2.09 with life and on line carry through his target, displaying outstanding arm strength. He will control the running game with his feet / arm. Receiving / blocking skills show as tremendous tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with tremendous power potential through an athletic setup. He gets to a strong launch position and shows quick hands that generate bat speed to and through contact, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with strength in his swing as the baseball explodes off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. Owen has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches.

09/19/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Fall Classic Upperclass Participant 9/21 - Versatile defender, sat well behind the plate and appeared to be solid at 2B as well. Right handed stroke was loose and full following a short, quick move to contact. Has natural hitting actions, and appeared to see the ball well. With advanced RH bat, has potential to fit either C or 2B profile.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
