12/06/2009 - College PREP - Cedar Hill, TX Paco is a young, 2-way player that pitches and plays SS. On the mound, he has good mechanics, and finishes his pitches well. His FB has some A/S run and his CB has early depth. Over the next couple years, Paco will need to work to lengthen his arm action, get more extension, and strengthen his arm. At SS, Paco has a good pre-pitch routine, takes good angles to the ball, and works well to stay in front of it. If Paco can quicken his feet, and field the ball in a lower, more athletic position, his defensive abilities should improve. Offensively, Paco has good balance, bat speed, and a level swing path. He does a nice job keeping his head still and eyes on the ball. If Paco can work on a proper load, and get extension through the ball, we could see a spike in his offensive numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
