07/14/2017 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Paolo is a strong built RHP/SS prospect who has a versatile skill set and graduates in 2019. On the mound, Paolo has a balanced delivery throwing from an over the top arm slot. He has a loose arm action and extends through his release. Paolo stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He does a nice job rotating with his core towards his target and effectively engages his front side. Paolo features a fastball and slider with good depth. Offensively, Paolo has a square, athletic stance with a centered balance. He maintains a quiet head and takes a good load with a short, square stride. Paolo has an on-plane swing path and gets good rotation. He is a contact type hitter who has a solid approach. In the field, Paolo covers good ground and gets around the baseball. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a square position. Paolo has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Overall, Paolo is a well-rounded prospect who works hard and has good potential to advance his skills with development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
