08/21/2010 - College PREP - Purchase, NY Patrick showed improvements in his game during his time in Purchase, NY. He is a big, strong, LHP with a FB touching 82 MPH. On the mound, Patrick has a loose arm action with life. He keeps his eyes to his target, repeats his delivery, and he has good glove side lead. He keeps his arm speed the same with all of his pitches, and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. If Patrick can get on top of his CB, and continue to add arm strength, mound effectiveness will get better. At the plate, Patrick improved both his hitting and power grades from 42 to 45, and 40 to 48 respectively. Patrick is a strong hitter with okay balance and a line drive approach. He puts the ball in play and has some pop in his bat. Offensive numbers can improve if Patrick and loosen his grip on the bat and tap into more lower 1/2.

03/21/2010 - College PREP - Hightstown, NJ Patrick is a big, strong, LHP that will graduate in 2011. Patrick has good size on the hill and delivers the ball on a downhill plane. He hides the ball well, throws a heavy ball, and he gets good extension through his pitches. His radar velocity improved from his last workout from 77 to 81 MPH, and his CB showed a lot of improvement from a 35 to 45 grade. Abilities on the mound could improve if Patrick can smooth out his arm hitch and take a little velocity off his CH. Offensively, Patrick sprays the ball to all fields and shows pop in his bat when the ball is centered on the barrel. He currently projects as a Pitcher only at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
