01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament This week in Arizona, Patrick displayed the ability to create good separation and keep a quiet head with good torque in his hips at the plate. His offensive abilities should continue to develop as he learns to create more balance and allow the ball to travel deeper in the hitting zone. On the mound, he has a long arm action, good rhythm, and keeps the ball down in the zone. His tools on the mound should continue to improve as he learns to stay closed and in line to the plate. Patrick's projectable frame should provide him well as he continues to grow on the mound.

10/19/2011 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2011 Patrick is an athletic RHP and spends some time in the OF when he is not on the mound. In the outfield, he has an above average arm and gets behind the ball well allowing him to use his body and move through the play. His defensive abilities should continue to improve as he learns to quicken his exchange and get the ball to an infielder sooner. At the plate, he has good balance and hits behind the ball very well, but needs to work downhill and through the hitting zone. On the mound, he gets good extension over his front side and has a very fluid and repeatable delivery. Patrick's tools on the mound should continue to grow as he learns to create more torque in his delivery. With two more years of high school baseball remaining, Patrick has the opportunity to develop his tools in preparation for the next level.

08/09/2011 - College PREP - La Jolla, CA Patrick is a strong, athletic RHP who graduates in 2013. On the mound is where Patrick shines through a high 3/4 arm slot and smooth / controlled balance point. He works in-line and has good rhythm. FB ranges from 80-85 mph, with cut and late movement. CB shows 11/5 shape and is thrown 69-74 mph. CH displays sink / fade, and is thrown for strikes. Offensively , Saucedo displays a square set-up, a solid load, and short stride. He is a pull type hitter and does well with the balls inside. He tends to swing with all arms at times and will benefit by using his lower 1/2 more. A looser / more relaxed grip, more level swing and more bat speed will improve hitting grades. Patrick already has a ton of talent, but with a few minor adjustments, could be a great prospect for the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
