10/12/2014 - College PREP - Glen Burnie, MD Paul is a L/L 2-way player as a 1B/LHP. Defensively at 1B, he shows active pre-pitch footwork and he moves well into a square fielding position. He makes the plays, gathers well and shows the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Working on his footwork around the bag will help to improve his abilities at 1B. With the bat, this lefty shows a square setup with good balance. Barrel delivery is short/direct as he connects and drives the ball up the middle of the field. On the bump, Paul has a 3-pitch mix coming from an over the top arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, maintains level shoulders and works in-line toward the plate. He fills up the zone with his FB (63 mph) throwing it for strikes. Breaking ball has 'loopy' 12/6 shape as it will have better break if he can develop a more consistent release point out front. Paul is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential.
