  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

12/20/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at JRTC - Session 1 Perry is a 2024 LHP/1B who showcased his skills during the BF Christmas Camp and Tournament. At 1B, Perry showed good range and soft hands that work out front. He worked to center the baseball and presents a big target at first base. He fields from an athletic/square fielding position with a low funnel. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, with a quick arm stroke, and an arm velocity up to 83mph. At the plate, he hits from a tall and even stance with high hands. Activates his hands, with smooth rhythm to swing, and showed good barrel control. An on-plane swing enables him to hit balls into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 81mph during BP. During the games, he showed good plate discipline and proved to be a tough out. A left-handed pitcher, he works exclusively from the stretch. He has good feel for pitching and competes on the mound. He gathers over the rubber and works with good direction down the mound. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 75mph, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball, and a knuckle ball. He does a good job of varying his looks and controlling the run game. In 3 innings of work, he struck out 4 batters. Perry is hard working 2-way player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/02/2022 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Perry is a tall and lean 1B/LHP in the 2024 class. In the field, scouts were impressed with his glovework and his ability to handle feeds below the knees. His feet are active and he centers his body to the baseball. Creates a solid left right action and presents his pocket. His transfers are clean and gains a natural high ¾ slot. Working to sink his hips more will allow for hop adjustment. On the mound, he operates with a 3-pitch mix from a high ¾ slot. His FB topped at 76 with arm side run. His CB sat 57-9 with 2-8 shape and was located well. His knuckle sat 57-8 and was deceptive. At the plate, he has loose hands and gains full hip rotation. Is athletic in his base and separates well. Shows pull side production and with his front side staying closed, he will have full field production. Overall, Perry is very projectable and looks to have a bright future on the diamond.

08/07/2022 - All-In Membership - Newnan, GA Perry is a tall, lanky 1B/LHP who will graduate in 2024. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. Throws are accurate with carry (80 mph velocity) to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he shows open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing through an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-76 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Knuckleball shows tumbling action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Perry has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
