Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

07/29/2014 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Peter once again showed he is a very coachable player who brings his all to the field. On the mound, he works to stay on top and work downhill off of the rubber. He commands the zone and can spot up well. He doesn't get rattled, maintains his composure and takes it one hitter at a time. Breaking ball shows 12/6 shape with sharp break and proves to be good out pitch. Increased velocity will come as he uses more of his lower 1/2 to drive off of the rubber. With the bat, Peter steps into the box looking to hit. He hits the ball where it's pitched and has the ability to drive it to all parts of the field. This athlete projects well and should make an impact on the diamond.

05/18/2014 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Peter continues to show as RHP/1B with strong skills. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now showing well above average hitting abilities with solid power numbers through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path and has leverage in his swing. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At 1B, defensive grade has improved, now showing well above average abilities, showing clean / smooth actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag, is a quality receiver, and consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. On the mound, breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to grow as he builds more arm strength.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Peter worked out both on the mound and at 1st base during his time in Pirate City. On the hill, Peter displayed good confidence, a smooth delivery, and he works quickly. He has good rotation toward his target and lands in a square position. At 1B, Peter is aggressive to the ball, he makes plays consistently, and his arm action is fluid to his target. At the plate, Peter stays back on the ball well, he can drive it into the gaps, and he can hit to the opposite field. Overall - Berenato is a competitive player with a strong/solid build.

09/28/2013 - Pitcher/Catcher Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18) Peter is a strong athletic player who has a tremendous upside. He displays very good command with all three of his pitches. His fastball has a good downward tilt that stays low in the zone. His curveball shows a 11/5 shape with sharp late bite. His Change up was effective and displayed good sink, long tossing with his change up will help him get a better feel. Peter has a great arm action and solid mechanics. He is able to reach a tall balance point and great to a good finish. Breaking his hands earlier will help him become more consistent with his velocity. Overall, Peter is extremely coachable and has a tremendous upside.

12/27/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament In Peter's latest event with Baseball Factory, he showed strong in all categories. At first base, he communicates well, gets in a low fielding position and throws accurately. Cleaning up his footwork around the bag, and picking through short-hops will increase his defensive ability. At the dish, he has a good setup and smooth load. His bat path is clean and he stayed strong up the middle throughout the week. Working on having better timing and more balance will help his consistency, offensively. On the mound, he threw his fastball with arm side run and for consistent strikes. His 11/5 curve-ball was effective, but he had a tough time throwing it for strikes and staying on top. In all, Peter is a coachable, passionate player that will continue to improve and projects well on the mound.

07/17/2012 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Peter is a tall, solid, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, Peter has a loose arm, tall balance point, and on-time separation. He repeats his delivery, his shoulders are level, and he lands in a square position. More lower 1/2 explosion and sharper off-speed will improve mound effectiveness. At 1B, Peter is aggressive to the ball, he keeps it in front, and throws with accuracy to his target. Fielding further out in front and not stabbing at the ball will improve fielding. At the plate, Peter has an athletic set-up, good balance, and he makes hard contact. He can work the ball gap to gap and he uses his lower 1/2. Looser actions and better timing will help hitting rise.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
