07/09/2024 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Philip is a 5ft 10/175 player in the 2026 class. He recently performed at the Cape Cod Experience and scouts raved about his coachability. Scouts said he will play anywhere, will always listen and applies what he has learned to the best of his abilities. In the field, he worked at 1B and impressed with his bag awareness and high baseball IQ. Arm works at 62 from a 3 qtr. slot. At the plate, he collected 2 BB’s and a SB in 3 plate appearances. He has a balanced set up and keeps his eyes on the barrel. Bat speed plays at 70 exit velo and with a dedication to a strength and speed program, he can increase his power. Overall, Philip was a camp favorite among the coaches and they are eager to see him again soon.

04/28/2024 - National Showcase - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Philip continues to show well with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
