04/29/2018 - College PREP - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Phillip is a tall, lanky built 1B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Phillip has a crouched stance with his weight in the front of his stance. He has smooth rhythm with a long stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Phillip is a switch hitter and shows a similar ability from both sides of the plate. He is a contact type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. In the field, Phillip works hard and makes the routine plays. He fields the ball in the center of his body on the heels of his feet. Phillip has a long exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He also does a nice job picking the ball in the dirt. On the mound, Phillip has a balanced delivery and keeps his eyes on his target. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a stiff arm action. Phillip stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He does a nice job pivoting off his back foot. He commands his fastball with run movement. Overall, Phillip has a well-rounded game and potential to get even better with hard work.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
