05/14/2017 - College PREP - Poughkeepsie, NY Phillip continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an excellent runner at 6.84. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved, now showing outstanding abilities as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he works to square balls up through a low approach but will benefit by play through balls more with his body. Glove action is soft and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on feeds/turns of the double play and slow rollers. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and he shows plus barrel accuracy.

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Phillip is a 2B/SS who in his time in Pirate City, hustled each and every play and showed a high baseball IQ. Defensively in the middle infield, he created good angles to field ground balls, stayed athletic while moving to his right and left, and displayed soft hands which were presented out in front. Offensively, his simple and compact swing allowed him to be a tough out at the plate, and spray the ball to all fields. Hands were loaded on time and were kept on a direct path to the ball when he swung. Working to incorporate more of his lower 1/2, by driving his back hip to the pitcher, will help with power to all fields. All in all, Phillip is the type of player who will lead by example and will be a great asset to any team he plays on, thanks to his reliability and work ethic.

07/06/2016 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Phillip is a young, hard worker who surprises with sneaky athleticism on the field. He hangs his hat on his defense at second base and consistently makes plays, the hallmark of a good middle infielder. He does good work before the pitch is thrown to get in the best position to field anything hit this way and it shows with his playable range. He shows clean hands on the double play turn and has an accurate arm to first. Implementing a long toss program will help Phillip increase his arm strength and make his more versatile in the field. At the plate, Phillip is a very confident hitter with a sound approach and good knowledge of the strike zone. He displays a quick, compact swing and shows good contact skills. Phillip is an intriguing prospect and a solid young player to follow.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Phillip is a SS/OF'er that will be graduating in 2018. Defensively, he works hard to get to the ball and showed a good accurate arm. Working from the ground up and staying athletic in his stance will improve his defensive abilities. Offensively, he shows a steady head and good tracking skills. He has a good high finish in his swing and will improve by firing his backside into the ball. Phillip is a very intelligent player who asked plenty of questions and was respectful to his coaches/teammates.

10/05/2014 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Phillip is an exciting 2018 grad with plenty of time to develop. Defensively, he uses his good pre-pitch footwork to get him into an athletic position to field the ball. His ability to get in a good rhythm and work towards his target makes him a reliable fielder. In the OF, his hands are sure and on time with his lower gaining momentum towards his target. Improving lateral quickness and developing arm strength will take Phillip's defensive abilities to the next level. Offensively, his feet are squared to the pitcher and hands are loose. The development of strength and bat speed will occur with practice and maturity.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
