12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory Holiday Classic at Pirate City Phoenix is a 2026 catcher and right-handed pitcher from Hilton Head Island, SC, who worked hard during his time at the Baseball Factory Pirate City Holiday Camp. Behind the plate, Phoenix shows an easy sit and presents a low target, with a quick exchange that allows him to create momentum as he replaces his feet. He recorded a best pop time of 2.12 seconds and has an arm velocity of up to 82 mph, demonstrating his strong arm behind the plate. His blocking footwork is smooth, and he works to center the baseball consistently. On the mound, Phoenix has a clean arm stroke and works with good tempo in his simple delivery. He fields his position well and, in two innings of work, did not allow an earned run while striking out one batter. As a right-handed hitter, Phoenix shows loose hands and late bat whip, staying centered at contact. During live game action, he had a single, reached on an error, and drove in 3 RBIs, contributing both offensively and defensively. With further growth and development, Phoenix's overall game will continue to improve, and he has a promising future ahead as both a catcher and pitcher.

10/20/2024 - National Showcase - Lexington, SC Phoenix is a catcher and right-handed pitcher from Hilton Head Island, SC, who is in the graduating class of 2026. Behind the plate, the player demonstrates an easy sit, keeping the body behind the mitt for optimal receiving. With a quick exchange and arm action, he gains ground to second base, achieving an impressive best pop time of 2.27 seconds and an arm velocity of up to 81 mph. His ability to quickly get down on blocks and effectively cover the five-hole showcases his defensive skills. As a right-handed hitter, he displays smooth timing and maintains balance at contact, driving balls into both gaps with consistency. On the mound, he exhibits a strong rear hip coil and good balance, effectively working down the slope of the mound with proper stride length. He throws a fastball for strikes, complemented by a curveball with medium depth and a change-up that features good movement. With two years of continued growth and development ahead, this player is poised to enhance all phases of his game and make a significant impact in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
