05/28/2023 - National Showcase - Minneapolis, MN PJ is a 1B University of Maryland commit who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame athletic build with strength present. At 1B he starts with a good prep-step and has active/efficient feet. Good reads off bat enable him to create good fielding angles. Fields from a square fielding position with hands out front. He showed good actions around the bag with ability to scoop baseballs. At the plate he hits from an upright and athletic stance. Good rhythm to start swing and keeps his weight between his knees. He hits into a firm front side, with quick hands, and he is looking to do damage on every pitch. Shows explosive bat speed as he hit hard line drives consistently with a bat exit velocity up to 94mph during BP. With another year of development, we foresee PJ having a bright future at the University of Maryland.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) PJ is 1B/LHP prospect who showed well during the Opening Day Classic. In the field, PJ takes good angles and fields the ball out in front with sure hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making strong/accurate throws through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance with comfortable hands. He rotates his core through well and drives the ball from gap to gap. On the mound, PJ gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. PJ shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with cutting action. Breaking ball sits from 54-60mph with 2-8 break. Overall, PJ is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament PJ is a projectable 2024 player (1B/LHP) who shines in a variety of ways on the diamond. At first, he showed off his soft hands and accurate arm. Not only did he impress in the IF, but he also showed his pop off a little with a 80mph exit velocity. His tall set up, activated load, and center balance would help him make hard contact in all of his rounds. PJ stepped on the mound and showed off his his fastball, topping out at 71mph. His breaking ball also showed well and will continue to develop. Overall, PJ is a solid 2-way prospect that projects at first but can certainly get it done on the mound, we are excited to see where this game takes him in the future.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) PJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a bright future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting potential has improved through a tall setup. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 1B, feet are active as he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 61-63 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Windsor (Madison), WI PJ is a young, lefty, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. Defensively, PJ has good pre-pitch actions, efficient footwork, and he fields in a low/square position. He fields out in front, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency from a loose arm action to his target. On the mound, PJ has a clean arm circle, a repeatable delivery, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He has good glove side lead and a controlled landing toward home plate. At the plate, PJ has a tall/square set-up, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He swings aggressively, has fast bat speed, and works the ball gap to gap. PJ can improve overall skills with work on the following.

1. Quickness
2. Play more through
3. Release

1. Finish
2. Direction

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
