07/19/2011 - Cape Cod Pro Select Training - July 19-23, 2011 (Ages 12-13) Prentiss is a 2016 graduate who has a tall, broad body structure and is a 1B/RHP. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and his arm action is solid. At 1B, Prentiss displayed sure hands and a controlled approach but his footwork is slow. He will need to work hard at his footwork both for speed and agility. On the mound Prentiss has a big, projectable body. He needs to use his lower half more and quicken his tempo in order to achieve the extension he needs. This will help him with location and velocity. Prentiss is in line with a sound landing but he has a tendency to recoil. He showed a controlled balance point and his seperation is on time but his rhythm is slow. At the plate, Prentiss showed an athletic setup and he tends to drop his hands during his load at times. He had a short/square stride. His balance is centered, he has a short swing path and fluid rhythm but his timing is late. He needs to work on making more consistent and solid contact and get a smoother stride and load. Prentiss is a good kid who listens to instruction which will serve him well in the future. As he matures and gains body control he should have a good chance for success in baseball.
