01/17/2025 - 2025 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Preston Harris is a catcher and first baseman with a solid 5'10'', 170 lb frame and developing defensive skills behind the plate. His arm strength (75 mph) and best pop time of 1.93 seconds suggest good catch-and-throw potential, though consistency in release and accuracy will be key to further improvement. His blocking and receiving skills are progressing, with room to refine footwork and technique. Offensively, Harris shows power potential with an 89 mph exit velocity, making him a threat at the plate. His 58% barrel accuracy suggests room for more consistent contact, but his overall approach and bat speed provide a strong foundation. Athletically, Harris runs a 7.25-second 60-yard dash, which is solid for a catcher, and his 4.75-second home-to-first time indicates decent mobility. His agility and quickness will be important areas of focus for defensive refinement. Overall, Harris projects as a defensive catcher with power potential. His ability to improve consistency in receiving and blocking, along with refining his offensive approach, will determine his ceiling at the next level.

01/21/2024 - National Showcase - Highland Park (DFW), TX Preston is an athletic catcher who is a prospect on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft mitt and sticks pitches in the zone as he tracks the ball well. He uses his body through the blocking process centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in 2.43 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting/power potential through a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 1/2 years to further develop, Preston has a lot of potential and with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
