04/25/2010 - College PREP - Fort Washington, PA Preston is a young, thin, 2B that also plays Soccer. In the INF, Preston presents his glove well, makes plays on balls hit his way, and he follows his throws to his target. He follows his flips when feeding the double play, shows a good exchange when receiving the double play, and he has an accurate arm to the bag. If Preston can work to field the ball in a lower, more athletic fielding position, improve his footwork, and strength his arm, defensive grades can further improve. Offensively, Preston has good balance and okay barrel accuracy. He tracks the ball well, has a level swing, and he puts the ball in play. Hitting can improve if Preston can work on a proper load, use more lower 1/2, and avoid choking the bat.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
