07/17/2022 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (HS) Ray is a 2024 C/3B who worked hard on his skills at the Baseball Factory Pro Select Training and Tournament. Medium frame with slender, compact build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.6 seconds. At the plate, sets up in a tall slightly open stance. Has a flatter path with more even-based stance, with hard contact to the pull side and a bat exit velocity up to 73mph. Primary catcher, receives well and shows soft glove hand, stands straight up, doesn't gain any ground, clocked up to 75 mph on throws with a best pop time of 2.84 seconds. Also took infield reps, extra steps into release across the diamond, developing hand actions, graded out best behind the plate. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we see this 2-way player making huge strides on the baseball field.

03/20/2022 - All-In Membership - Bowie, MD Ray is a C in the class of 2024 out of Upper Marlboro, MD. Behind the dish, he moves well laterally when blocking to keep his chest in the center of the ball. He receives with his thumb under the baseball to present pitches well in and around the zone. His exchange was decent while on his throws he took too big of steps towards second slowing his release time down. At the plate, he uses loose hands in an athletic stance to fire his back side through to a firm front side in his swing. He takes the barrel straight to the ball while working a line drive approach. Ray is a good player who will continue to take steps to advance his game in the coming years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
