He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry but needs to work to get rid of the ball sooner. At the plate, power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 70-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. FB was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate, he starts with an upright and even stance. A quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well and showed good awareness of the strike zone. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
